Maximilian Villwock is a director and writer educated at Film University Babelsberg. His films focus on universal stories set in unseen worlds.
His short film Fire Drill won the German Short Film Award (Golden Lola) and was nominated for the FIRST STEPS Award. The film also screened at festivals including REGARD, Cinema Jove, Filmfest Dresden (Golden Horseman), and Torino Film Festival (Special Jury Prize). It was broadcast on Franco-German TV channel ARTE.
Other works have been shown at Guanajuato, Oberhausen, Camerimage, and the Hof International Film Festival. A Passage was nominated for a Student BAFTA. Penthesilea, a medium-length film, was nominated for the Studio Hamburg Young Talent Award and aired on German television station 3sat.
Max currently lives and works in Hamburg and Berlin.
